Introduction
The thematic exhibition titled “Leader’s Demeanor: Telegram Manuscripts by Comrade Mao Zedong in Xiangshan” presents 202 precious telegram manuscripts by Comrade Mao Zedong during his stay at Xiangshan. Presented in a storytelling manner, these telegram manuscripts reflect critical junctures, major events, important historical figures and decisions. Exhibited along with them are precious pictures, objects and documents. All of these items are carefully selected to shed light on the CPC-Kuomintang peace talks, the safeguarding of China’s sovereignty, the excellent working style, and the noble demeanor of leaders. The exhibition features the crucial choice between two possible destinies awaiting China and the great changes that occurred in the process of building a New China. By exploring the historical details behind the telegram manuscripts, the exhibition vividly illustrates a series of major events, battles, and important figures right before the entire country was liberated and their inextricable connections with Xiangshan. It not only reconstructs what the CPC Central Committee did during their stay at Xiangshan to “lay the foundation for the founding of New China”, but also highlights the demeanor of Comrade Mao Zedong as the core of the Party’s first generation of collective leadership, the leader of the people, and the military commander.
Located in the Thematic Exhibition Hall on the first floor of Xiangshan Museum of Founding of New China, the exhibition covers an area of over 1,000 square meters, with an exhibition route of 160 linear meters. A total of 62 pieces (sets) of precious objects and over 50 photographs are displayed. The exhibition shows the reconstructed historical scenes such as “Comrade Mao Zedong’s Office at Shuangqing Villa”, the “Confidential Bureau of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee”, How “Streets of Beiping Were When Good News Came One After Another”, and the “Victory of the People”.
